Hello! This post is now on formerclarity.com. Head over there to keep up with all the latest stuff.
Hey, hi, hello. Been a few weeks, I have a few things kicking around that should be coming your way in the not-too-distant future. But in the short-term, I did an interview with Luke O’Neil, who does a very good newsletter called Welcome to Hell World that is also a book. You should subscribe, then get a paid subscription, and then, in the words of Jay Sherman, buy my (his) book.
Anyway, the general thrust of it was about the ridiculous bills I get in the mail. Over the weekend I got one for $120,355.30, which is a big number that seems ridiculous and not real. In fact, it’s not real, because it’s one of many letters I’ve received that has said “this is what it cost but we don’t know what you owe in full just yet!” So, yeah, I don’t know. I’m paying the hospital in Chicago the least I can per month, but will also plan to do the same for whatever Cleveland Clinic charges me. I guess time will tell.
But yeah, I basically got into how much time I spent trying to get good healthcare, and how much it cost to even get to the point where I could spend money on healthcare. Funny how that works. If you’re so inclined, go give it a read. Also, go do all those things I said in the first paragraph. For real.
Anyway, here’s a song that features my favorite lyric of the last decade and I think of it at least once a week: “Hard to choose a career when you're bad at everything.”
